Philip Van Avermaet is a self-taught Swiss photographer, born in Zele, Belgium in 1965. In 2000 he moved to Switzerland to the region of Sion, and later in 2008 to Blonay, near Montreux.
When he was young, he started with analogue photography, and only made the step to digital photography in 2009.
2012 was another important year. At the end of that year he started with artistic photography. He discovered an original way of expression through the “SmokeArt” by taking pictures of smoke, their natural and unique forms. His personal touch consists in “painting and coloring” these smoke forms, which results in a unique and personalized form.
The SmokeArt is a mix of digital photography and (digital) painting, without touching the original form of the smoke. Each piece is established in one single copy, all framed in Diasec®. It makes people travel in their imagination. Each person sees these works in a different way. Therefore, these have no title, to give each person the freedom of imagination.
He had his first exhibition in July 2013.
This creative art finds his place everywhere, while imagination has no limits and is for all ages.
